We have been working with the story "A Small Lot" found in the reader on page 20. The students have started creating their own story based on "The Small Lot". Today we worked on our Introductions. A solid Introduction lets the reader know three important story parts.
1)Setting
2)Introduce and describe the main character(s)
3)Describes the problem of the story
As a class, together we wrote the following Introduction example.
On a hot, sunny day two girls were playing in a empty lot on their quiet street. Hayden was a playful, cheery blonde haired, blue eyed little girl. Her best friend was Lily. Lily was an energetic, ambitious 8 year old. She had brown curly hair and wore pink glasses. Everyday the two girls looked forward to meeting up and playing in the small, vacant lot. To their surprise the two girls noticed a for sale sign on their tiny, play lot.
Please have your child write their own introduction for their own version of, "The Small Lot"
