We had a fantastic morning with the breadlady on Wednesday. Here are some photos of us learning about flour and making our yummy treats with the flour we ground.

On Wednesday, December 5th we have the bread lady coming to do a presentation to the class. This presentation involves teaching them all the steps of making bread.(from wheat -flour) In this presentation, the students are placed in groups of 4 and make their own bread roll. In order have a successful morning it would help if we had some parent volunteers. If you are available the morning of Dec. 5th, please e-mail me for further details.

As many of you already know, bingos help pay for many, many items in the
school that would not otherwise be there without this parent-supported
fundraising.
URGENT : Willow Park School has a bingo this SAT, DEC 1 @ 5:30pm
Later in the month Willow Park School has a bingo DEC 29th @ 11:45am
Finally, Willow Park School has another bingo JAN 15 @ 5:30pm
We need parent volunteers to help with the bingos. If we do not get enough parents we lose the bingos and the funds for the school that go along with the bingo.
Please pass on this request to any other Willow Park parents that you know, who may be able to help out. If each parent worked one bingo, this work would be EASY ! Please volunteer !
Thank you !! (:

2012 Newsletter
We had a wonderful October learning about
the fall season, our senses and pumpkins.
October has been a very busy month with settling into routines, getting
to know each other better and lots of activities. Of course, Halloween has been the
highlight! Thank you to all the parents
who were able to come and assist with dressing students and helping with the
games and activities at the Halloween party.
Extra hands are always greatly appreciated.
Our theme for this month will be Oceans.
We will focus a lot of our learning areas around this topic.

Combined
Class:
On
Thursday, November 15, Mrs. Hannon’s class will have school.
All thre Willow Park Kindergarten
classes are combining that day to take advantage of 2 in-school field trips. A
presentation of “I am Unique” and “Healthy Me. ” One will be
in the morning and the other in the afternoon.
Extra parent volunteers to assist throughout the day would be greatly appreciated. If you are able
to help, please let your child’s teacher know.
Picture Day:
Report Cards:
Report cards will be going home on the
following days.
Mrs.
Hannon’s (Monday/Wednesday class) will get their Report Cards on Wednesday,
November 28th, 2012.
Book Orders:
Book Orders are due on the following day
Mrs. Hannon’s (Monday/Wednesday class) book orders are due Wednesday, November 7th, 2012
Money:
If you are sending money with your child to school for any reason, e.g. milk orders, popcorn, hot lunch, book orders, please put the money in an envelope or zip lock bag well marked with your child’s name/class, how much money is enclosed and what the money is for.
On December 5th and December 6th, the Bread Lady will be in our classes teaching the Kindergarten students the process of bread making from field to the bread. For this presentation, we need 1 adult per 6 students (6 adults volunteers per class). If you are able to come and assist the Bread Lady in helping a small number of students make bread (instructions/materials supplied). Please let your child’s teacher know. If we don’t get the volunteers, we will have to cancel. This has been a very good presentation in the past and we would hate to have to cancel.
Please ensure that all pieces of your child’s clothing are labeled with their first and last name. Don’t forget their outdoor clothing (toque, mittens, gloves, scarves, hoodies, and boots)
Attached is a homework activity called “I am Unique” for your child to complete and return to school by Thursday, November 15, 2012.

Just came in from our lunch hour recess. There were many cold kids outside. Many were not prepared for the fall weather. Please make sure your child is dressed and ready for the changing fall weather. We go outside, everyday!! Please pack mitts, hats, winter coats etc... It is better to be warm/hot and unzip your jacket, then just have a sweater or fall jacket and be cold and miserable. We want all the kids to enjoy their time outside!
Thanks
Dina

Cold Weather:
As the weather
turns colder, we ask that you continue to send your child with the proper
clothing and footwear each day as we go outside everyday for recess.
Extra Clothing:
Please send an extra full set of clothing to be
left in their backpack. Have them in a plastic bag with your child’s
name on it. Thank you.
Picture Day:
Willow Park
School’s Picture Day is on Thursday,
October 11th.
Unfortunately, this is only a one day event. Therefore, the Monday/Wednesday
class will not be in school. For this
reason, we invite any parent with a child in the Monday/Wednesday class to
bring their child to school on Thursday, October 11th for 8:45am and
wait in the lobby to have their child’s picture taken. If you are unable to make it to the school on
October 11th, there will be another Picture Day on Wednesday,
November 14th.
Halloween Parties:
Our Halloween
party will be in the afternoon of Wednesday, October 31. Unless your child’s
costume requires extra make-up or hair coloring, which you can put on before
they come to school, we ask that you just send their costume with them and we
will help them dress at 12:45 p.m. We will have a costume parade and then
continue with the party festivities for the rest of the afternoon. If you do
not celebrate Halloween, your child can wear their pajamas for a “Pajama Day.”
Extra parent volunteers to help dress and assist with the Halloween
games/centers for the party would be greatly appreciated. If you are able to
help, please let your child’s teacher know.
Bus Safety Presentation:
On Wednesday, October 10th, 2012 there will be a short bus safety presentation for the Monday/Wednesday Kindergarten class.
