Terry Fox Run Tomorrow

Terry Fox Run Tomorrow

The Marathon of Hope.
 
That’s what Terry Fox called his journey – his run across Canada to raise money for cancer research.
An extraordinary person with an extraordinary story, Terry Fox ran 42 kilometres (26 miles) a day for 143 days straight.
… 42 kilometers a day for 143 days… that’s the equivalent of running a full marathon every single day… for 143 days.
However, on September 1st, after 5,373 kilometres (3,339 miles), Terry was forced to stop running outside of Thunder Bay, Ontario because cancer had appeared in his lungs. An entire nation was stunned and saddened.
Terry passed away on June 28, 1981 at the age of 22.

Pop Can Tab Collection

Just a quick bit of information.  The school is trying to collect "Pop Can Tabs".  The tabs will be sent to Abbotsford BC, melted down and the money will start the process to build a wheelchair. It takes roughly 750 000 to 1 million tabs to make a wheelchair. The name of the agency is Pop Tabs for Wheelchairs.

Just to let you know on Monday and Tuesday morning the school will be having their Bus Safety Presentations.  Our Kinders get an in class presentation first and then go and sit on a school bus and learn how to use the back emergency exit properly.

Also, just a quick reminder please pack an extra pair of clothes and leave it in their backpack.  ACCIDENTS happen, even to the best of us!!

Just a quick reminder, tomorrow is Picture Day for the Tuesday/Thursday Class!! The Kinders get their pictures first, therefore if you want to send your child in their photo outfit, but send another outfit for the day. I will give them time to change after their photo is taken

I tried to take pictures of our class Pete the Cat craft after school, but the camera battery was dead.  It is changing overnight, pictures will be posted tomorrow.

Terry Fox Run: Friday, September 27

Just a quick note that the school will be having their Terry Fox Run on a Tues/Thurs class day Friday, September 27, 2013.  We will be going over the Terry Fox information and video with the students and encouraging the students to bring a Toonie for Terry.
