The Marathon of Hope.

 

That’s what Terry Fox called his journey – his run across Canada to raise money for cancer research.
An extraordinary person with an extraordinary story, Terry Fox ran 42 kilometres (26 miles) a day for 143 days straight.
… 42 kilometers a day for 143 days… that’s the equivalent of running a full marathon every single day… for 143 days.
However, on September 1st, after 5,373 kilometres (3,339 miles), Terry was forced to stop running outside of Thunder Bay, Ontario because cancer had appeared in his lungs. An entire nation was stunned and saddened.
Terry passed away on June 28, 1981 at the age of 22.
